Terms of Use

Last updated: 23 October 2026

PhotoCommunity is a community for people who love photography. These terms explain what you agree to when you join and use PhotoCommunity, on the website or in the app. By creating an account or using PhotoCommunity, you accept them. How we handle your personal information is covered by our Privacy Policy.

Your account

You sign in with your Google or Apple account and you're responsible for what's shared from your PhotoCommunity account. You must be at least 13 to join. You can delete your account at any time from Account settings; everything you shared is deleted with it.

Your photos and posts stay yours

You keep the copyright and every other right you have in the photos, blog posts, captions, comments and PDF attachments you share on PhotoCommunity ("your content"). PhotoCommunity doesn't become the owner of any of it.

So that PhotoCommunity can work, you give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide permission to store, copy, resize and display your content, only to run PhotoCommunity: showing it to other signed-in members, in your posts and challenge entries, in notification emails to members, and on the public home page for photos you choose to feature there. This permission ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies that take a short while to disappear from backups and caches.

What other members may do with your content

By sharing on PhotoCommunity, you're happy for other members to see your content, like it, comment on it and download it for their own personal, non-commercial viewing (for example, saving a photo or a PDF guide to look at later). You can turn downloads off for any of your photos, and add your name as a watermark when you upload. Members must respect a photo with downloads off and must not remove a watermark. These settings discourage copying, but nothing shown on a screen can be fully protected.

Members may not reuse someone else's content in any other way without the owner's permission: for example republishing it, posting it elsewhere, editing it, selling it, using it in advertising, claiming it as their own, or using it to train AI models. Ask the photographer first. A member's page and their comments are a good way to reach them.

What you can share

Only share content you have the right to share. That means it's your own work, or you have the owner's permission. Don't share anything that:

  • infringes someone else's copyright or other rights,
  • is sexually explicit, or shows nudity of anyone who hasn't agreed to it,
  • harasses, threatens, bullies or demeans anyone, or promotes hatred or violence,
  • shows identifiable people in private situations without their agreement,
  • is spam, advertising or a scam, or contains malicious links,
  • is illegal where you live or in the UK.

We don't tolerate objectionable content or abusive behaviour.

Reporting, blocking and moderation

Use Report on any photo, comment, blog post or blog comment that breaks these terms. Content reported by several members is hidden while we review it, and we remove content that breaks these terms, usually within 24 hours of a report. We may suspend or delete accounts that repeatedly or seriously break them.

You can also block a member from their page. You'll stop seeing their photos, posts and comments, and they can't follow you or comment on your photos and posts. You can unblock them from Account settings at any time.

Photo challenges

Entering a challenge shows your photo in it with its votes and place. Votes are likes from other members. Don't try to game the results, for example with extra accounts. We may remove entries that do. Winning a challenge doesn't come with a prize unless we announce one.

The service

We work to keep PhotoCommunity available and your content safe, but we provide it "as is" and can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. Keep your own copies of your photos: PhotoCommunity only stores resized versions, never your original files. We may change or stop features, and we'll update these terms (and the date above) if we change them. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have by law as a consumer.
